Embossed Metal Tape for Mixed Media
Denise Spillane will show us how to make embossed metal sized Artist Trading Cards using plumber's tape. These can be embellished with photos, die cuts, alcohol inks or whatever your imagination sparks. This technique is a lot of fun and can be used in a number of different ways.
"With Thread in Needle and Tongue in Cheek"
Thread painter and internationally acclaimed fiber artist, Cindy Hickok, will present her award winning work to DAFA during this meeting.
Cindy will show us how she uses needle, thread and sewing machine to create sculptural "paintings."
DAFA members and guests will have the chance to hear Cindy describe how her imagination runs amok, while viewing a visually stunning slide show of characters of her favorite paintings taken out of context and placed in new situations.
Lest you think that all her art will be shown on the screen, you will be happy to know that she will also bring plenty of show-and-tell for personal viewing.
Cindy has an impressive list of solo showings, juried, and invitational exhibitions. We are honored to have Cindy with us. Her art can be found in museums and galleries from London to Poland, The Netherlands, Paris, Switzerland, Spain - even Taiwan- to name a few.
Cindy is an exceptional artist and has published in books and periodicals. She is warm and personable - you will quickly feel you have known her forever. Whether you are an embroidery lover, or just appreciate fine fiber art, you don't want to miss Cindy's inspirational program.
